 So I'm kind of stumped. I kind of want to find a job around here.  [The Dreaming Bridge was nice enough, but with no school and no ghosts to fight around here, Danny was starting to get incredibly bored.]

But you know, I'm not really sure what I could do besides the local equivalent of flipping burgers. Anyone got any ideas?

Back in the other city I made sandwiches at a restaurant for a while. And I did maintenance stuff at the hotel.

Sounds like a place to start. Probably more than a few restaurants need someone extra, even if it's only for dishes.

[A shrug and pause.]

Maintenance isn't bad either. Everyone needs things fixed.

I mean, there's only so much you can do when people don't know you yet.

[Reputations get built. Zephyr's been on the other end of it. There's another shrug.]

Mercenary work? Odd jobs? You'd never get bored, but you'd always be looking for the next job.

[Most of Danny's experience with reputations had been dealing with having a bad one. Ghosts didn't usually get positive press.]

So.... you're saying I need to get a publicist?

[He makes a face.] Yeah... I think I'm going to have to pass on the mercenary idea. Odd jobs might work, though.

[Not unkindly, Zephyr snorts.]

Do some work for people who'll speak well of you to others, and it'll spread. Only takes a little.

What'll it be? Fence painting? Pet-finding?

[Now he's teasing a little.]

Either or, I guess.

[He sort of had experience with pets? If you counted ghost animals? And that weird bird that kept showing up. ]

[Zephyr holds off on suggesting charging to help little old ladies cross the road. That'd probably be a bit much.]

Worth asking around near the places you go a lot. Everyone knows someone who needs help. If you're feeling really ambitious, you could put up flyers.

I might still keep that in mind if this job thing doesn't work out.
