[ Okay, Ilda can’t resist that. Laughing, she switches to video. ]

But, yes, he is!

Actually... the 5 rhinn’s not even really a fee. [ She likes you already, Nita, so she doesn’t want you to think you’re being scammed. ] Believe it or not, he says he’s a god. And he’s willing to grant wishes, but it’s customary in his world to have offerings — and he badly needs them, because he doesn’t have a shrine so he’s homeless!

[ She genuinely looks distraught by Yato’s fate. What a terrible situation to be in, to be homeless. ]

[And Nita ends up doing the same~

While her eyes widen at the explanation, it's not the strangest thing she's ever been told.

Or lived through, really.]

So, he has to rebuild everything from back home?

[How terrible! She doesn't even need the wishes, really, but now Nita just wants to help him out for his own sake.]

How long has he been here?

He doesn’t even have a shrine back in his world. He said he’s still an up-and-coming god, or something. He has a room in the Dreaming Bridge like all of us, but in principle he’s homeless without a shrine.

He’s been here a couple of months. Around the same time I arrived, I think.

I’ve been helping him advertise, but... I don’t know, I have no problem selling my stuff in the market, but most people I mention Yato to think he’s a hoax or a fraud or something. [ Ironically, Ilda doesn’t even really believe Yato’s a god. Or so she says. It’s hard to tell, with the way she’s become super invested in him. ]

[Huh. So, a bit like the Hesper's situation, except reliant on both belief and a presence of general intermediate stages.]

I'd definitely like to talk with him, then, just in general. Maybe help build the shrine.

[Assuming all those funds aren't just for the permit to build a shrine. How much does real estate even cost here?]

I've met gods back home, though, so I don't mind helping either.

Really, you'd do that? That's super nice of you! [ Most people won't even bother to consider talking to him. ]

... what are gods like in your world?

[ This is a bit of sore subject for her, but... well, Yato so far has turned out to be quite different from what she's expecting. So maybe gods from other worlds are just cooler than what they're stuck with in hers. ]

[Nita rubs at the back of her head, sheepish smile on her face.]

A balance of attentive, respectful of free will, and sometimes just plain weird.

[Not counting their oldest Adversary...]

And there’s a lot of them?

Do any of them grant wishes? How much do they charge?

I can't say I've met them all; it's a pretty full Pantheon.

[Good luck making a family portrait, at any rate.]

Wish-granting's not usually a thing for most of them - though I met one that would help you in any one task if you caught her performing a miracle.

[That was Biddy, back in Ireland. A Goddess in disguise...]

And charges would vary, though definitely don't make promises you can't keep. And be careful of how you word them, though it's not so much about Them being tricksters as it is about both parties being exact.

Huh. Our kingdom only has one. A goddess.

And Yato doesn’t sound like any of that. He does a lot of work, for a god.

[ If he even is really a god. But she doesn’t say that. ]

[Nita sighs lightly.]

Getting established might be the hardest part, really. That first breakthrough can take a lot of struggle.

[As in, "the universe is about to be artificially inflated past its coping levels, destroying all the underlying physics"-level struggle.]

Yeah, that’s true. Poor Yato’s got a lot of work to do.

[ And because Dairine just issued a challenge — SUBJECT CHANGE! ]

So are you going to ask him to do the dance with you?

[Nita's about to respond... as she scrolls through the other comments on a whim.]
