[Trahearne doesn't normally use the video option on these devices, but he is now, and he looks troubled.]

I have discovered a brewing situation, and I believe I'll need help facing it.

Let me explain. I had a conversation with the Fool last month that lead me to think that something from my world might soon pass through to Aifaran. While I haven't found any proof of that yet, I've been keeping an eye on the news ever since, and there's reports coming in of some strange events happening outside the city. In one region, there's been sightings of aphaufa wandering away from their herds and curamjija going out of their way to attack people.

[There's a rustling sound as Trahearne lifts a paper map off of his lap, obscuring his face as he holds it up for the camera. There's a lot of little red 'x' marks, mostly congregating near a forested area on the archipelago.]

I don't know if this is related to my problem, but I have a feeling that I shouldn't ignore this. [He lowers the map just enough to see the camera again,] So, who's interested in taking a day trip with me?

(OOC: Consider this post an unofficial sign-up for a log I'll be doing soon! I'm only looking to take a handful of people, but don't worry about missing out, there'll be a game-wide portion of this plot in December for everyone.)

I guess I am~ [Bastien cheers with such a dopey smile upon his lips.] You know how I love buzzing around you.

[That much is certain given that he's considering that he's plotting on visit Trahearne and his little batcat again.]

The Fool? [He pauses for a second as he ponders.] You mean that blondie with the pretty eyes? Ah, yes! I remember him. He's a strange one, pretty but strange.

Though, if he told me about some kind of prophecy stuff---I think I would be scared half out my wits too!

[Trahearne gets a small grin at that, having to stop himself from commenting further. There'd be time for more flirting later.]

Yes. The Fool is a very good friend of mine.

There's no reason to be afraid. Prophecies are warnings, and it's useful to be prepared. It's also possible that my interpretation of it was wrong.

[The two of them definitely will be flirting later. For now, they ought to focus on the topic at hand. Bastien never been really fond of magic despite being magical himself.]

I hope you're wrong and that nothin' bad comes from all this, luv. [He sighs quietly.] Though, even so...I'll protect you.

I vow on that, Trahearne.

[Trahearne gives him a warm smile, tracing a finger alongside the edge of the yimo's screen.]

I appreciate it, Bastien. I'd be honored to protect you, too, should it come to that.

[That little gesture isn't lost on Bastien. The pirate grins goofily as he blows Trahearne a virtual kiss. Distance makes the heart grow fonder, right? Seems to be the case here but Bastien hasn't gone too far.]

No need to be all worried about me! [He grins confidently as he tries to take up a stately pose.] I can handle myself quite well.

I'm a damn good swordsman, ya know.

[Despite his habit of over embellishing his skills, Bastien is actually a damn good swordsman. He just doesn't really like getting into fights but if he has to, he'll cut any man's throat to protect what's his. That includes his ferny-luv.]

Say, where are you? I'm missin' you something fierce today.

And I have magic to protect myself, but it's still an admirable gesture. I try to not take these things for granted, especially here.

[After all, Trahearne has far fewer allies here than he did on his world. That's only to be expected, but it makes the allies he has here all the more precious - and Bastien is a special case beyond that.]

I'm at work - I never mentioned that I got a job, did I? I'll be home again in a couple of hours. I'd be thrilled if you stopped by to visit.

Eh, a job? [Yes, a job. Bastien is mildly surprised but then again, Trahearne seems like the type to work unlike him. Bastien is a world-class freeloader who fancy's himself a pirate.] You're a working man now?

Goodness, what do you do? Aren't you some kind of shaman or medicine maker?

[He's thinking about that "healing stone" Trahearne given him.]

Ah, well. I would LOVE to visit you on this lovely evening.

[Trahearne says it wryly,] It's nothing like that. I'm a necromancer, but there's not much call for that profession here. I found a employment at an antique store, and it suits me well enough.

[He knows he's told Bastien about being a necromancer a time or two before. Perhaps it's just easy to forget about.]

In that case, I'll pick up a bottle of wine on my way home.

[It's not that Bastien keeps forgetting, it's just that he's hesitant to accept that truth about Trahearne. His love for this green bean is still fresh and new. They're still learning about each other still and with that comes acceptance. Bastien is having a difficult time accepting that his sweet little fern can raise the dead. He just doesn't quite get it yet. It hasn't all sunk in yet. ]

H-Haha! [He chuckles nervously.] Maybe that's a good thing, no? No necromancy means no boney skeletons walking about lookin' for something squishy to stab.

[His thoughts think of that Aztec curse he heard about years ago. One that allegedly turned an entire band of pirates into undead monsters.]

Yes, wine! Make sure it be red.
