So... Kind of a strange question. But anyone know if the dorms here allow pets?

[A rather sheepish Danny tilts the camera up to show the ball of white fluff sitting on his head and peeping softly. His hair is slightly on end, as if he's been near static electricity recently.]

It just kind of showed up. And when I say showed up, I mean it was kind of in a weird way?

[He still wasn't sure whether it was something he'd done or not.]

I think I'm going to call it Spooky.

That's adorable. I'd talk to your roommates first.

That's a good idea. I'd hate to take this guy back and find out my roommate was allergic to feathers or something.

Is it a boy? I can't tell. It looks like a little ball of fluff.

I have no idea. I think it's mostly feathers. And static electricity, for some reason.

Static? IS that the reason for the hairdo?

Yeah. [He looks a little embarrassed.]

Do birds usually come with lots of static electricity? Are they like those balloons that we used in science classes?

[Danny had gotten terrible grades in ninth grade biology.]

[ She thinks it's adorable. She will adopt Danny as her honorary younger brother, yet. ]

Somehow, I don't think they do. But who knows here?

Yeah... I noticed the bibiru are still around. I'm guessing we haven't seen the end of creative wildlife.

[Danny just needs to accept that he was meant to be everyone's kid brother. ]

Creative wildlife is one way to put it. So his name is Spooky huh? Any reason why?

[Danny fidgets a little nervously. Maybe he hadn't entirely thought this out.]

Uh, because he's white and kind of looks like an owl. A little? Maybe? And it's kind of a trend. There was a dog who used to hang around that I called Cujo.

[ Be her ghostly little brother, Danny. She won't judge. ]

You called a dog, Cujo? Was it a St. Bernard?

I think he was a mutt.

[Danny wasn't entirely sure about breed with Cujo. He'd probably been one of the usual guard dog breeds once. But now that he was a ghost...

Well, he was mostly just green and dog-shaped.]

But he kind of had one of those personalities, you know? One minute a puppy that just wanted his squeaky toy, and the next moment charging off and getting into trouble.

[And also the size of a house. ]

[ She smiles a bit sadly. ]

I actually have no experience with dogs. Or cats, or... any animal, really. My family wasn't allowed to have animals.

Really? Me too. The only pet I ever had was a hamster when I was in third grade. [With the kinds of experiments his parents ran in the basement, having an animal running around the house wasn't really safe. ]

Cujo was kind of a stray that followed me around for a while.

My uncle forbade us from having any animals. And Da wasn't a big animal person, either.

[ Werewolves don't get along with animals in her world, so, ya know. ]

[Danny makes a face.]

I guess that would do it. My parents weren't too happy about the idea of pets either.

[ She shrugs. ]

I'd never been to a zoo until a month ago.

Really? That sucks. Hey, maybe there's one around here somewhere.

My uncle didn't allow us to go.

[ She shrugs easily. It had been her life. Up until six months ago. ]

There might be? It's worth looking for.

Yeah, maybe just to see what kinds of animals people around here think belong in zoos.

Want some company going to the zoo? I think I could clear my busy schedule for an outing.

[ Yes, she's teasing him. ]

Not at all. But if you don't want company....

Of course I do! I mean, I don't know if they even have one, or what they would have in it or if I would even go. But if I went somewhere like that I'd want company.

[ Only partially because his last trip to the zoo had ended with someone hunting him down and trying to put him in a zoo. Or possibly a trophy collection.]

[ She smiles at him, amused. ]

Well, then you find out, and we'll make a day of it.

Well, if we aren't then I'm fucked. I already have like three bibirus.

What, seriously? How did that happen?

Uh, well I was at the petting zoo and they sort of just. Gave them to me.

[Danny wasn't entirely sure that petting zoos were supposed to work that way. But then a lot of things in Keeliai hadn't made much sense either.]

I guess you could probably take them back if you didn't want that many? I mean, assuming you don't want them.

[Maybe this guy actually did want a collection of bibiru. Or maybe he just sucked at saying no. Danny really couldn't tell. ]

[Danny was absolutely right on both accounts. But look at them-who could resist?]

Hey, I'm not giving them away! I've named them already. I'll fight anyone who tries to hurt them.

[Danny sighs dramatically.]

Looks like you're attached. Sorry, looks like its too late for you.

[The bird on his head cheeps again.]

...And me.

You make that sound like its a bad thing. Animals are good for depression, you know. And it's not trying to eat you.

I only just met it. There's still time for it to change its mind.

[He was mostly joking.

If you're gonna get eaten by a tiny fuzzy bird, I think you have bigger problems in your life.

[He almost wasn't.]

Looks more like Kuriboh dander than a pet, you realize.

I'm guessing that would be funnier if I knew what a kuriboh was.

It's a Shadow monster, specifically a hairy floating fuzzball that explodes when riled.

So... are you saying this thing is going to explode?

Oh... was that what I was implying?

Not sure.I stopped listening to the rest after the part about exploding.

You, who were in Keeliai and saw the variety of people this place in known to attract, are worried about something that could explode?

Uh, yeah? Because exploding things are usually a problem?

Ah, I see-- you have skittish nerves, then.

Uh, I'd kind of hate to meet someone that doesn't get nerves when you're talking about something that could explode on you any minute.

[Granted, Danny would probably survive it. Intangibility was useful that way. Still, he liked to pretend that he was still 100% human at times like this.]
