Good afternoon to everyone - it is a pleasure to meet so many new people, and I am glad to have the privilege to see old friends once again, even if the circumstances are not entirely ideal.

[Circumstances being that they've been brought back to Konryu, many against their wished, 566 years into the future but Klaus fights vampires for a living. A little world hopping a time travel is nbd]

For those I haven't met yet, I am Klaus Von Reinherz. I am sure it will be a pleasure to make your eventual acquaintance. Before being brought to Aifaran, I was formerly the proprietor of the Midnight Hotel in Keeliai which I inherited from the previous owner, Mr. Anton Shudder.

While not much seems to have survived of the establishment, some of you may remember the spirit house in the lobby and the ever replenishing jar of coffee beans. I'm happy to say that both somehow made it over with me.

[And his rather severe expression seems to brighten considerably because here is the prospect of not spending his days wading through other people's blood.]

Which brings me to my next point - I am considering opening an establishment. Perhaps a sort of mix of a cafe and a flowershop? I have always thought a nice beverage and snack is better enjoyed in the presence of beautiful flowers, and it has always been a dream of mine to make a living with horticulture. Of course I will have to find the premises and do the necessary paperwork to run such an establishment but I would like to gauge interest among both potential customers and employees first.

Would such a place be interesting to you? Have you any suggestions that would make it so? I am very much open to others' opinions.

Might you have need of a woodworker? [Then, added with a bit of a wry smile,] Flowers look their best when displayed elegantly. Perhaps I could provide some work for you.

[And earn himself a bit of extra money, for his stipend does not go far.]

Possibly - especially if the building is in any kind of disrepair.

I'd certainly welcome any craftsmanship that would help with displays.

[after a pause, comes somewhat regretfully,] I should say, I am no carpenter. What I offer would be ornamental. Would this still be of interest to you?

My apologies - I misunderstood. But yes, it would be of great interest. I would gladly commission you for ornamentation around the cafe. I'd happily feature any works you'd like to sell as well if you like.

[with an engaged smile,] That would be a delightful arrangement. Shall I make time to meet you in person so that you can examine my work for yourself?

Of course - I can easily make time for whenever is appropriate for you.

[It's weird not having work nearly 24/7]

Mr. Klaus, if you want, I can take some pictures to help you with that place. It sounds like something you'd be happy doing and I can use social media to advertise.

Besides, I gotta start taking some pictures again. Chain and Michella could be models~

Do humans even have places to "buy" cut flowers, huh? So many things they make complicated. But could I ask what a "cafe" is? I might have trouble advising you until I know.

Ah - I can see how it might be a bit strange. But yes, florists sell both cut varieties as well as potted plants - often because those plants are a bit tricky to obtain depending on region or season.

A cafe is a bit like a restaurant, though much less formal. One usually gets a beverage and a snack, and it's a nice place to socialize or get work done.

Isn't it that rarity that makes them appealing, though? That's what I always thought. [True, they're beautiful otherwise, but there's an accentuated beauty to something with a life so brief and rare.]

Ah, so another place to buy food. Making it for socialising as well sounds nice, maybe even people who don't need to eat can use it too, huh?

[They're noting it aside as a potential place to listen out for information.]

Perhaps for some the rarity is appealing. For most it's the simple joy that comes with growing something, or the other meanings behind receiving flowers.

And people who don't need to eat would be very welcome - I shall be sure to put out things that can be enjoyed by all. Books and perhaps board games?

Oh, I suppose being able to grow them would make it enjoyable. I don't think we had meanings for them where I come from, though that almost seems like a shame now. [It's a nice thought, for those beautiful things to have a meaning, even if their mere existence is uplifting.]

Books would be interesting, but I'm not sure what a board game is either. [The concept sounds vaguely familiar, like something they might have encountered in passing, but that's it.] It seems I still have a lot to learn.

I take it you're from somewhere other than Earth then?

A board game is simply what it sounds like - a game played on a board. There are many different types ranging from the simple to incredibly complicated. Some rely more on the chance of dice and others require more strategy from the players. When I was last in this world, there were a few different kinds - it will be interesting to see what survived and what changed over the last several centuries.

We didn't really have much of a name for our world. [Padparadscha knows full well that they're likely talking about the same world, but the fact that they come from long after the extinction of humans from that planet is one that they'll be keeping to themselves for some time yet.]

Sounds like a strange way to play a game, but then, we didn't play a lot of games back home either. It might be nice to have that kind of experience.

[It's not the most unusual thing Klaus has ever heard, really.]

If you like, I can set a game up in the common area and teach you the rules?

[That gets a slightly interested hum from Padparadscha. They don't tend to plan out a lot here so much as go with the flow and see what information they can gain from the various places they discover, so this seems fitting enough.]

Wait. You're telling me that you have an unlimited supply of a product that you don't have to pay for?

I'm amazed you're even bothering with the flowers, when you can make a killing with these 'coffee beans'.

Er... it's a bit less about the money and more that I truly enjoy gardening and would like to share such a thing with others.

[Now he's completely incredulous,] Less about money?

... Hmph. Just do yourself a favor and make sure you're earning enough coin first, before investing too heavily in the gardening part. It'd be a shame to let such a windfall go to waste.

Of course - I'm not completely ignorant of how to finance a business.

But I think there is always room in people's lives for beautiful plants, no?

And I was totally ready to do humiliating things for those beans, too. Tea just isn't the same.
