first wish ♛ video;
Turtles? I'm not entirely sold on what was described when I got here by the people at the Dreaming Bridge, although there are turtle gods back in Japan. Gen-bu, Oto-hime, Mino-game... so it's not unheard of.
But what I can't figure out is, where are all the shrines around here? You've got tons of different peoples all living in the same place, but no one thought to set up proper shrines??
[ And then he flashes the camera a grin, because he's got just the solution! ]
What you all need is a new god to take care of those prayers of yours that have probably been going unanswered!
So here I am: the Yato God at your service! 24/7 wish-granting, fast, reliable and affordable!

[The gentle snort isn't mean, more like a punctuation. What does he even want? Technically, being here is as close to changing his personal circumstances as he'd ever thought he wanted. Shaking his head, Rokuta frowns.]
How do you even grant wishes anyway? They could be any scope.
[And sure, god and whatnot (if that's what he is), but even deities have limits, right? Otherwise you wouldn't get things like a god of harvest, or weather, or travellers in the Yellow Sea. Things like that.]
no subject
... Sometimes I get passed jobs from other gods' shrines, like if they're busy.
no subject
Uh-huh. Yeah, but some people are gonna ask you to find a lost pet or whatever, and then someone comes along and asks you for your help to conquer a nation?
[Rokuta shrugs, hooking his hands behind his head.]
You can refuse something, if you don't like the wish?
[Would that he could do that. Not that Shouryuu had ever asked him to do something he didn't want to do, but... the potential was there.]
no subject
It's not an obligation, no.
no subject
[Dropping his hands from the back of his head, he rubs a cheek.]
That's all.

[A lot of them wants well and tries to do their best, but that... doesn't change the end result. But, whatever. Not the point here and now.]
Anyway, I'm not doing anything right now, so if you did want to grace me with your presence..?
[All right, that is definitely and unapologetically teasing, the grin on his face the same.]
-->action?
Tadah!
action!
[Okay, he hadn't expected that, which is probably more than obvious by the way he startles, eyes wide and his shadow - well, for a second or two his shadow contains more than just a shadow, a pale, definitely feminine arm and hand coming out to yank Rokuta back a step or two, steadying him in the same motion before it's withdrawn when he glares down at the ground, then back up at Yato.]
Warn a body first! Pretty flashy, though...
[And he can feel the difference to any regular person around - like Genkun, or the nyosen, though different probably because it's not the same world... or like Shouryuu for that matter, though the ouki is a mortal reflection of brilliance, not really divine. Something opposite of the youma, too, maybe. Cocking his head, he frowns up at Yato for a second longer, and then dips into a shallow bow.
... Don't expect that to happen again, though.]
Re: action!

Don't expect it to happen again.
[Just to make that amply clear.]
no subject
Right, right.
[ And that's when he gets his first real read on Rokuta, and he blinks a few times. ]
Oh, you're not...?
no subject
[Cocking his head, slipping his hand up from his neck to the back of his head and raising the other to follow and lacing them together there, he arches an eyebrow. He can't tell if someone can pick out he's not human or not, if they're seeing more than what seems to be there, or be certain what Yato's asking, at all. But there's a certain weight to the look Yato just gave him, and if he is what he felt like..?
Well, he's probably not going to be overly surprised no matter what the elaboration turns out to be.]
no subject
[ Perhaps it shouldn't have surprised him; after all, Yato himself looked human but wasn't. Rokuta was like nothing he'd ever felt before-- divine of a sort, but not a god. There really wasn't anything similar that Yato was familiar with. ]
no subject
[He grins wryly, cocking his head.]
Wondered if you'd notice, since I could feel... [Unlacing his hands to vaguely wave at Yato to try and encompass the whole... thing.] this.
no subject
Not like the ones here, you're not. I wonder how they learned that name... you're also from Japan?
no subject
[Since his hands are already there, he waggles one in the air.]
The world I'm from is connected to where Japan is. I got swept away and ended up born in Japan and staying there for four years before I was found and brought back. That's where I got Rokuta. Otherwise it's Enki.
no subject
Which of you prefer, Rokuta or Enki?
no subject
Rokuta. It's more... mine. [If he'd never been swept off with a shoku to be born in Japan, of course that wouldn't be something he'd think. Enki would be what and who he'd be, unless Shouryuu had given him an additional name. But, nevermind that.]
... So, what are you a god of, if you're taking on random jobs to help people?
[Is that polite to ask? He doesn't know, frowning a little as he looks at Yato.]
no subject
[ Yato knows a thing or two about preferring one name over another. ]
I'm sort of up-and-coming right now. The deliveries are for getting my name out there, you know, building a base. But formally... I'm a War God.
no subject
[The grimace that curdles his face is instinctive, reflexive; an immediate flood of what war means for the actual people involved tearing through him, remembering---
He shakes his head, eyes narrowed as he studies Yato, and maybe there's a not-so-small uncharitable part of him that whispers that of course he might not then automatically deny any warlord who'd wish his help. It'd literally be his job. And paying attention, he can just barely pick up a distant thread of old, spilt blood. No intent, nothing recent, just threaded through that divine presence like a shadow.
Grunting, Rokuta grimaces again, softer this time.]
Yeah, I can tell, now. At least you don't smell of fresh blood.
no subject
Well... thanks?
[ Not super fresh, but not ancient. There are some habits that aren't fully broken. ]
no subject
Don't necessarily mean literally, even if that too. Intent to violence, actual such... things like that? It smells like blood to me.
[He shrugs, realises now he should've phrased it differently, but the revelation had been something of a surprise and it'd just slipped out.]
Too much and it makes me sick.
no subject
Yeah, well... you're not the only one. That other guy I was talking to looked like he was basically having a breakdown.
[ The exchange is public, so Yato isn't sure if Rokuta saw it or not. ]
I can go, if you'd want.
[ As a god of calamity... well, if anyone is going to make an actual divine kirin sick here, it's probably him. ]
no subject
Like this, it's fine. Don't worry 'bout it. [He waves a hand in the air as if waving all that aside. Sure, the whole war god part is... a little uncomfortable, and now that he's aware of it, it's impossible not to pick up on that faint strain, but that's not exactly Yato's fault, right? And he's not doing anything.] Not the most sensitive kirin out there, so like this, it'd take a few months standing right next to you before I got sick.
[He quirks an eyebrow, voice wry. If Yato's not actually worse than he's presenting himself to be, and he's not going to assume that, he's been around worse people for longer. Even if that was a while ago.]
