[Valdis woke in a panic, to emotions not her own and she wondered briefly if this was what X had felt once the shock had worn off. But she didn't make any moves until she was sure of herself again, taking time to pick apart the dream and remove herself from it.
That hadn't been easy. The turmoil of the crew, the black, oily shadows that twisted with their own life. Far too reminiscent of darker things. Had some creature from the Death Plane managed to reach through a breach? And if so, was this some kind of warning? As someone who could not dream without some power at work, she had long since stopped discounting them.
It was still dark outside when she turned on her video stream.]
Has anyone else had strange visions tonight?
[Her voice is steady, more certain than she feels, but Valdis refuses to allow dread to overwhelm her.]
I tried to sketch what I remember, but it's more the feeling of it that I can grasp. A sense of fear and...a black, oiled shadow that seems to move on its own.
[It was that oily shadow that bothered her the most.]
And a name...Nerrin.

-But also tentacles. Unfamiliar tentacles, anyway. And I wasn't myself, nor was I my other self, but someone completely different.
I thought I was going mad. [Not that she isn't already halfway there.] Mader perhaps.
Does this happen often? Miss Lyn noticed some strange things before as well.
video;
I'm not sure if it has here, but if three of us had strange visions...did you say tentacles?
[Not tendrils? Not something fluid and moving, but solid and real? Some creature of the death plane perhaps...which wasn't a good thing.]
Re: video;
If others have seen similar things, what could this possibly mean? Madness isn't catching, I should hope.

Mine had different names. A group walking through the forest, and one of them was taken by a strange darkness. A friend of the person whose eyes I was seeing through, I think.

Mine was on a ship. The captain I think, he was giving orders to his crew...I don't know if there was a storm or if they were under attack...but the shadows seemed to have a life of their own.
[Fog, a forest, a ship, some dark creature...there had to be more information somewhere.]

It seems we've all seen different fragments of encountering the same enemy, then. The shadows sound the same as what appeared in the forest.

Meoni.
There was something dark. Like a shadow but more... fluid. And it ate Meoni.

They must be connected. Was your vision on a ship?
Text;
My roommate and I had the same vision. We were both Faias.

I confess that as of now I have a poor understanding of my own vision. Do you mind sending me your sketch? The visual might help us to decipher yours.

[A few moments later an image of the sketch would appear. The interior of a ship, rendered with skill, a blackness slowly moving, reaching for someone. It was impossible to relay the terror and panic of the vision in such a thing, but she had done her best.]

I saw Nerrin, too, and the shadows. He was in an engine room, like on a ship. I don't think there was a crash, though. [She pauses, trying to articulate the unacknowledged fear that Nerrin had felt.] It was like they weren't where they were supposed to be.
video;
It didn't seem like a crash, more like they were being attacked...but the beast was corporeal even as it wasn't.
[Valdis realized that this didn't make much sense, but she couldn't find another way to describe it.]

I dreamed of a woman named Al'amar. It reminded me a little of Tantalus - everything she ate seemed to turn to ash.
If it was true, I don't think she'll survive long, wherever she is.

That does sound like some sort of curse...I'm afraid we must assume the Death Plane is involved.
[So why did she feel the urge to seek it out?]

[The dream had been upsetting, but now that he was awake Conan was more disturbed by the fact that it clearly had not been one of his own nightmares. ]

...Actually, I think I was Nerrin. And the oily shadow, yeah, that's a good way of describing it. Think we saw the same thing?
[There's a pause before he finally remembers—]
—Oh. Wait. Sorry...
[...But since he's already made the blunder, might as well roll with it.] Has your vision come back...?
no subject
[A massive relief, she didn't know what she would have done if it hadn't.]
If you were Nerrin in the vision, then it is highly possible.

I didn't dream of anyone named Nerrin. But there was someone named Al'amar. I don't know how I knew her name, but she'd just given everyone else food, then started to eat her own. But everything she ate turned to ash. No one else did either.
I thought I could taste it.

[Especially considering the fact that she believed that they had been.]
Any other details you can think of?

Have you ever seen anything like them?

[His voice is quiet, and a little muffled as though he's somewhere windy. There's the sound of the sea surf somewhere nearby.]

The oily shadows too?
