[ Yato looks positively ecstatic when the video turns on, practically vibrating in his seat, and he's holding up a weird little thing, made of twisted bits of fishing net, a broken lure, some seaweed strands, a cracked shell, and some other assorted marine bits. In other words, it looks exactly like something you'd reel in off a snag on your hook (and normally throw away), except someone's tied a bow of old twine on it. ]

I've finally got it! My perfect solution to making more of an impact in Aifaran! This is an Erol'an good luck charm!

[ He caresses it fondly, like its presence is a dream come true! ]

An Erol'an mystic woman sold it to me when I was down on the docks doing a job! She said she sensed a strong, positive aura from me, and this would help me focus it, all I have to do is keep it with me at all times.

It's going to work, I can just feel it!

[She's genuinely curious - how cities 'feel' was actually part of a lesson for her on how to find their kernels. And though the cities were worlds unto themselves then, the point stands.

No - really, I've just arrived here! I think I'd know if I'd met you before, let alone if we were from the same world.

Tokyo's got a very rushed feeling to it, like a beehive sometimes. Things are a lot more relaxed here, it's a nice change.

Iiit's not the first time I've ended up somewhere strange, though usually there's a worldgate involved at some point.

Nope.

A worldgate's a way of connecting two points in spacetime, usually due to high population density on at least one end of the connection. There's natural instabilities that people can harness, or we can implement and control them artificially.

[ He does notice the conspicuous lack of cookie. ]

I did have one already. They're good, just not addictive.

[She leans forward to whisper.]

[ He laughs a bit, accepting the cookie. They are good, no doubt about it. ]

So you're new here but you're used to this sort of thing happening? You'd be in pretty high demand from some of the other Dreamfolk if you can share what you know about it.

It doesn't help that we're supposed to be tightlipped about the what back home on Earth, but... this place seems pretty astahfrith to me.

[That is, enough like what other Dreamfolk can do to be Acceptable Weirdness and not screw them up forever.]
