[ The feed snaps on to reveal this spiky mess of a teenager. He's grinning like he didn't wake up in a completely different world with no real knowledge of how he got there. ]

[ Watch as he he takes one deck of cards in his right hand, closes his fist and the same deck appears in his left. ]

So, sounds like we'll be staying here a while.

I'm Kuroba Kaito- [ He closes his fist and the deck of cards disappears again only for the deck to reappear, back in it's box with the plastic wrapping over it as he somehow spins it on his fingertip. ] -Resident Magician.

Nice to meet you all in advance-but I do have a few questions based on a few things I've heard.

[ He covers the box with one hand for a second and then reveals the box and wrapping are gone. He next bends the deck to the cards shoot up but then promptly turn into confetti. ]

[ Really? Weird. It's hard to think of school as not existing in another world-or was it just that it didn't exist yet? ]

You don't have school where you're from? Then where does everyone go to learn Math, or how to read? Or really.... just basic social skills?

Well, those families with the means to pay typically hire tutors for their children. The good ones can stay with those households for years.

The common folk do have a form of schooling, usually a matron within the town that teaches a room full of children how to read and write. Beyond that, teenagers apprentice under a master if there's some particular skill or craft they have to learn for their chosen career.

Well, there is such a thing as private tutors where I'm from-but school is much more like a matron-called a teacher back home-teaching to a room full of kids.

And there's three different... levels? Types? Is all of that really necessary?

Depends what you mean by levels? You start at four years and then keep advancing. There's Pre-school, then elementary which covers grades one through six, middle school which is seventh through ninth, and high school which covers the last three before college.

...

You even have a 'pre-school'? It's starting to sound excessive. But if it works for your world, who am I to judge?

If you ask me, I think there's too much school but the government doesn't agree.

Preschool is basically there to teach kids the fundamentals of good manners and social skills as well as give parents a break from their little hellions.

Hah! I can understand reasoning like that.

But the government is who decided on all this schooling...? Hmm. You come from a very interesting world, don't you?

Hmm... sort of? I mean, it's a democracy so it could be changed but no one wants to. All except for the those that go to school and don't get a vote on account of being a minor.

[There's a brief silence before Naesala speaks up again, sounding completely stunned.]

A democracy? How does anything ever get done?
