Turtles? I'm not entirely sold on what was described when I got here by the people at the Dreaming Bridge, although there are turtle gods back in Japan. Gen-bu, Oto-hime, Mino-game... so it's not unheard of.

But what I can't figure out is, where are all the shrines around here? You've got tons of different peoples all living in the same place, but no one thought to set up proper shrines??

[ And then he flashes the camera a grin, because he's got just the solution! ]

What you all need is a new god to take care of those prayers of yours that have probably been going unanswered!

So here I am: the Yato God at your service! 24/7 wish-granting, fast, reliable and affordable!

Pretty sure there are shrines all over the place.

[Here, he'll even turn the yimo around for a second, since he's so handily walking past one of said shrines right then, then flips it back to aim an arch look through the feed.]

There's a temple, too, for one of the faiths 'round here. But I guess that's nice of you, few gods tend to be that hands on.

I've seen the turtle shrines and the 'spirit houses', and neither of those are the sort I'm looking for. They don't...

[ a vague motion of his hand; he's not sure how to explain that they don't feel right ]

Wait... you know other gods?

[Arching his eyebrows, Rokuta frowns.]

Just 'cause they're different doesn't mean... [A thoughtful pause. Well, whether he literally is a god or not, if he is, the shrines being different probably means they aren't of use to him. So he shrugs, accepting that.] Not quite right, huh?

And yeah, sure I do. Or about, anyway. Haven't met any personally or anything, unless we're supposed to count Lady Gyokuyo since she mediates with the Heavens.

[~~Not since he hasn't met Kouya since Atsuyu's death, but then, Kouya wasn't thought of as a god then.]~~

[ Oh, Yato thinks, and there's an unexpected rush of relief, he gets it. ]

Not quite right, yeah.

Well, now you can say you've met one personally!

[Maybe he's not instantly convinced of the claim, and is pretty amused, but the obvious relief about the shrine question is interesting at the least and implies he does need something like that, for whatever reason. And what's the harm in it?]

I don't know... [He grins brightly, clearly teasing.] Does it count as personally when it's across a device like this?

If you've got a wish then I can come by and remedy both at the same time!

[The gentle snort isn't mean, more like a punctuation. What does he even want? Technically, being here is as close to changing his personal circumstances as he'd ever thought he wanted. Shaking his head, Rokuta frowns.]

How do you even grant wishes anyway? They could be any scope.

[And sure, god and whatnot (if that's what he is), but even deities have limits, right? Otherwise you wouldn't get things like a god of harvest, or weather, or travellers in the Yellow Sea. Things like that.]

Well, usually I stick with helping people out with things they can't do themselves, or they just need done. I've got a lot of skills, you know!

... Sometimes I get passed jobs from other gods' shrines, like if they're busy.

[... Okay, he will not say what his first thought is about that, because unless Yato's already thought it himself, it seemed a bit too mean to say it. Not that he couldn't be, but it wasn't the right moment, really.]

Uh-huh. Yeah, but some people are gonna ask you to find a lost pet or whatever, and then someone comes along and asks you for your help to conquer a nation?

[Rokuta shrugs, hooking his hands behind his head.]

You can refuse something, if you don't like the wish?

[Would that he could do that. Not that Shouryuu had ever asked him to do something he didn't want to do, but... the potential was there.]

... You're the second person to ask me that today. I'm starting to wonder what kind of gods you're used to around here.

It's not an obligation, no.

Less 'bout gods than people, I think. [Shaking his head, his gaze slides sideways for a moment. A relief it's not obligatory, anyway.] A lord or ruler? A lot of the time their wishes won't exactly be beneficial, compared to a girl just wanting a new hairbrush or something. Or food for the next day.

[Dropping his hands from the back of his head, he rubs a cheek.]

Well... they have as much right to ask gods for things just like anyone, that's the whole idea. But I get what you're saying. Hopefully you don't have a stockpile of kings or emperors around here!

Don't think there are any, no. [That might get a smile out of him, even if it's a little sharp.] But leaders are leaders.

[A lot of them wants well and tries to do their best, but that... doesn't change the end result. But, whatever. Not the point here and now.]

Anyway, I'm not doing anything right now, so if you did want to grace me with your presence..?

[All right, that is definitely and unapologetically teasing, the grin on his face the same.]

[ he'll get a matching grin in reply, and that's about all the pre-warning before Yato teleports himself to where Rokuta is, appearing in a flash of light ]

Ack---!

[Okay, he hadn't expected that, which is probably more than obvious by the way he startles, eyes wide and his shadow - well, for a second or two his shadow contains more than just a shadow, a pale, definitely feminine arm and hand coming out to yank Rokuta back a step or two, steadying him in the same motion before it's withdrawn when he glares down at the ground, then back up at Yato.]

Warn a body first! Pretty flashy, though...

[And he can feel the difference to any regular person around - like Genkun, or the nyosen, though different probably because it's not the same world... or like Shouryuu for that matter, though the ouki is a mortal reflection of brilliance, not really divine. Something opposite of the youma, too, maybe. Cocking his head, he frowns up at Yato for a second longer, and then dips into a shallow bow.

... Don't expect that to happen again, though.]

[ Yato's gaze goes right to the shadow and the hand rising from it, and he'll definitely be asking about that later when there's a better moment for it. He has a cheeky quip ready for Rokuta's surprise, but the bow leaves him momentarily speechless. He knows how long it's been (exactly how long it's been) since someone has done that for him. Yato... may actually look a little tearfully happy right now. ]

[Oh, Heavens. Peering up at Yato as he straightens up again, Rokuta would be amused if he wasn't also a little embarrassed by the clear happiness at the show of just some regular, proper respect. So this is one kirin clearing his throat with a little scowl on his face, rubbing the back of his head.]

Don't expect it to happen again.

[Just to make that amply clear.]

[ Yato laughs, waving a hand as if to say of course but he's still grinning like a fool. ]

Right, right.

[ And that's when he gets his first real read on Rokuta, and he blinks a few times. ]

Oh, you're not...?

[Cocking his head, slipping his hand up from his neck to the back of his head and raising the other to follow and lacing them together there, he arches an eyebrow. He can't tell if someone can pick out he's not human or not, if they're seeing more than what seems to be there, or be certain what Yato's asking, at all. But there's a certain weight to the look Yato just gave him, and if he is what he felt like..?

Well, he's probably not going to be overly surprised no matter what the elaboration turns out to be.]

Not human.

[ Perhaps it shouldn't have surprised him; after all, Yato himself looked human but wasn't. Rokuta was like nothing he'd ever felt before-- divine of a sort, but not a god. There really wasn't anything similar that Yato was familiar with. ]

Oh, yeah. [At least he was prepared for that, and he's starting to feel more relaxed, so, he just shrugs in agreement.] No, I'm not. I'm a kirin, and mostly that's an inconvenience.

[He grins wryly, cocking his head.]

Wondered if you'd notice, since I could feel... [Unlacing his hands to vaguely wave at Yato to try and encompass the whole... thing.] this.

[ he perks ]

Not like the ones here, you're not. I wonder how they learned that name... you're also from Japan?

Definitely not like the ones here. [He can't help it, his nose scrunches up and he grimaces, but at least Yato's already picked up some of the differences without that having to be explained.] And, uh... kind of?

[Since his hands are already there, he waggles one in the air.]

The world I'm from is connected to where Japan is. I got swept away and ended up born in Japan and staying there for four years before I was found and brought back. That's where I got Rokuta. Otherwise it's Enki.

[ That's not like anything Yato's her dbefore, but that seems to be the new standard for being in this place. ]

Which of you prefer, Rokuta or Enki?

[He hasn't actually had anyone ask that before, and he's never really thought about it. But in the end the answer's simple.]

Rokuta. It's more... mine. [If he'd never been swept off with a shoku to be born in Japan, of course that wouldn't be something he'd think. Enki would be what and who he'd be, unless Shouryuu had given him an additional name. But, nevermind that.]

... So, what are you a god of, if you're taking on random jobs to help people?

[Is that polite to ask? He doesn't know, frowning a little as he looks at Yato.]
