But it is! Though he looks far more subdued than most people in Aifaran have ever seen him. ]

[ Ilda's not going to have much more than a second to register that Yato's end of the feed goes blank, because the next instant will be a bright flash of light as Yato appears next to her and without a word throws his arms around her in a tight hug, muffling his voice slightly. ]

Don't blame them. I told you, people forget easily.

[ She deflates in his arms, a sob escaping her. She tries not to cry so much, but she can’t help it. She’s come to fear the worst. ]

[ She can’t bring herself to say disappear. She knows it’s happened to some people in this place, but with Yato, she’s been fearing a different kind of disappearance. A more... permanent one. ]

[This is the latest in a litany of first impressions for Antarcticite, who is still getting used to interacting with people they do not recognize--after all, prior to arriving in Aifaran, the only strangers they ever had cause to encounter were usually Lunarian interlopers intent on dragging gems off to the moon.]

I am Antarcticite, [comes their rather formal introduction--though they look more earnest than severe. Doubtless making new friends just isn't something they have much experience with.] I've never met a Dreamer who left and then came back before.

[Is it nice? Saying it's nice appears to be the usual thing that people say upon meeting strangers here. Antarcticite understands the necessity of being polite; it's just the strangeness of having to make new acquaintances that they're still adjusting to.

...as is carrying on a simple, pleasant conversation, apparently. Antarcticite fumbles, their school prefect-like posture faltering for a moment.] Well, [awkwardly, then--aha,] you must come from someplace interesting. What is your world like?

[It would be a lie to say that Pepper managed to hold onto all of her memories of Yato - they'd gotten fuzzier and fuzzier, though seeing Ilda's signs posted all over the place and talking with her helped maintain them in a limited capacity. In short, she remembers that she knows him, but not all the details yet.

There's something achy in her heart when she sees him that she can't identify, but Pepper greets him with a broad smile.]

Nice to re-meet you. You are in so much trouble.

I think we're going to have to institute a buddy system or something so you can't vanish on us again. [This is clearly teasing.] Which means you have to come with me to one of the street fairs and eat waaay too much candy. It's protocol.

[More seriously:] Did anyone tell you how long you've been gone? [She... might be able to answer that question if she concentrates hard enough.] Did you go home or did you just lose a chunk of time? Are you okay?
